It was nice to read the postings again, I have been off line after a
move and only got internet service this week.
I thought I would add to the where I take my ferrets. While living in
Las Vegas I took some babies everywhere i went. These were very ill
kids I fostered for 24 carat shelter. I got kicked out of Starbucks on
Sahara and Ft. Apache for having a sick baby Lost Boy II, who I loved
so until the day his Leukemia or Bone Marrow Cancer took him. He had
his own bed and he was propped up in car so he could view the sites.
I smuggled him into stores in a carrier pouch without problems.
My little Raven went to the casino and gambled with me. We went to
pick up grandkid at a Casino where they were at a movie. It was not
over so we sat a slot machine and she watched the flashing lights and
was so very good. We didn't get kicked out either. People passed by
and would say hi but no one approached me and we spent about an hour
gambling together, she loved it. RAven also went with me to get the
mail at my apartment. she wore her leash and halter with pride and at a
certain point she expected to be let loose so she could run to the door
to wait for me to open it for her. She like to do that when we returned
from a road trip, she would be let down when we got to the side walk
and then she could go to the door on her own. Most of my kids are
halter and leash trained and love to go for walks and have taken me for
1 to 1/2 block walks greeting anyone who came up to them. I think it
is really important for them to know their area around their home so
if by chance someone got loose they will know how to get home again.
Of course all mine are chipped as well. Raven also when in Reno went
to the laundry mat to do the wash, she loved to play in the warm clean
clothes while I folded them and ride in the laundry buggy. She is
unfortunately Adrenal now and doesn't get out as much as she used to
and we have moved multiple times since my son was killed last Sept
2005. Finally we are in our own place and they have their furniture
back with their scents and old toys to play with like new.
I hear from a friend in Las Vegas this week she lost her best friend
Fui Jai a sweet blaze boy deaf and with Diabetes for 3 years he lost
his fight. She was heart broken and we sobbed over his loss> I am sure
one of my lost babies will meet him at the bridge. The hardest thing
about having and loving these special creatures is their loss. I still
cry when I talk about the kids I have lost this past year and half and
these babies weren't really mine they were all fosters from 24 carat
shelter but I loved them as much as if I had had them for years. The
little sick ones really pull the heart strings and get the closest to
me. Specially if they require a lot of care.
I hope my contribution to Where are my ferrets going was interesting.
I loved to take mine out and show them off.
