We used this recipe to keep Neo as healthy as possible when he was
fighting severe insulinoma and ulcers simultaneously. He ate great and
maintained weight and a beautiful coat until the day we had to help him
to the bridge. And, it's easy to make. Just keep adding a little water
to it as it continues to thicken up. We currently feed it to our three
healthy ferrets 2 or 3 times a week just as a change of pace from
kibble, and to have them know and love it in case they every get sick.
And, they do love it!
1 teaspoon ground up kibble (we use Totally Ferret)
1 teaspoon Uncle Jim's Duk Soup Mix
1/4 teaspoon Slippery Elm bark powder (particularly good if they have
any kind of stomach problems at all, incl. diarrhea)
Ferretvite and Ferretone (a little of each - add more ferretvite if
trying to add weight, and more ferretone if trying to help coat and
skin)
acidophilus (probably only add this if they are sick and antibiotics
have compromised the amount of 'good' bacteria in their stomachs)
Add enough water to make it all soupy, then microwave for about 10
seconds to make it aromatic, but NOT too hot.
