Silverfert, Whether the zoo will be a good home or not for that lost
ferret depends on the zoo. I have seen some zoo education programs
which were absolutely wonderful for the animals. (Ditto some research
programs, actually, and that tends to shock some people who don't
realize how widely research projects and conditions differ, also how
widely the overseeing vets differ because who the chief vet for a
university is can make all the difference in the world for conditions.)
Then again, some are anything but good. A blanket judgement simply
doesn't make sense. The particulars of how the ferret will be kept do,
and those are what need to be learned. So that means it is time for
those who have the time to be involved to look into the conditions in
that particular zoo to see what is good and what is bad.
