question about heating/ac registers in floor

We're getting forced hot air and central air in our house. They put 
the registers in the floor yesterday. They aren't connected yet. I put
something heavy over the one in Nexus' room, so he would not be able
to get at it.

I'm wondering how he will react once it is screwed into the floor and
functioning. Do ferrets dig at them?
