Someone asked whether ferrets can recognize themselves in a mirror, as
this is a sign of high intelligence. Please keep in mind that ferrets
have very poor vision. I'm not sure if their vision would be good
enough for it to even be possible. So it doesn't necessarily mean they
lack intelligence, if they don't recognize their own reflection. In
order to have recognition, they must be able to see it in the first
place. I've put my ferrets in front of mirrors before, and they do not
even respond to it at all. It's not like they can tell there is an
image of a ferret there period. They rely much more on smell than
sight. Just wanted to point that out for anyone who was afraid their
ferret might be mentally challenged.
