I know how great it feels to give to a shelter and have someone to send
gifts of Thank you's in return! To be acknowledged for your generosity.
But that cannot be your motive to give! You've got to give because it's
in your heart, because it helps others. If you don't get a thank you,
that shouldn't make you want to give less the next time! You will get
your rewards in the end...and if you give out of selfishness, there are
"rewards" for that too! If you can't give without getting back, then
what's the point? You may as well just go to a store and buy something
for yourself! Not a very good "gift" is it? I agree that in the Giving
tree cases, the shelter or a volunteer should respond to at least say
"we got the gifts" but they do get busy and if they don't say
something, please don't stop giving!

"If you give the world the best you've got, you may get kicked in the
teeth, GIVE ANYWAY!"

In Christ,
Ann
