I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me with suggestions about my
ferrets' respiratory problems, especially those who emailed me about
their experience with fungal infections.
My vet is pretty convinced that it's a mold problem. The humidity has
been the only major change in our household since we have had our
fuzzies. We are buying a dehumidifier today, and Stella is staying with
the vet for the next few days to see if her symptoms resolve. If not,
she will go on a course of anti-fungals meds.
I am also happy to report that we rescued a fuzzy today (we now have
4)! Her name is twiggy, and she's a 3 year old cinnamon in relatively
good health. She was confiscated by a vet from her previous owners for
starvation abuse =(. She weighed about 0.6 lbs when she came in, and
she now weighs 0.9. She is very sweet and energetic, and I think she
will make a very good companion for Stella. We are happy to welcome
her into our business.
