Julie sent a request for us to check on her albino boy Foley. He
crossed the Bridge last weekend.

I knew it was him crossing the Bridge as soon as I saw him because
Julie told us she sent Foley with his blue fleece blanket, and there
he was, clutching his blankie, while making his way across the Rainbow
Bridge. He seemed a little bit scared as he approached my side of the
Bridge, so I smiled and waved in an attempt to reassure him. As he got
closer I shouted, "Hi Foley! I see you made it!"

He looked at me a bit curiously and said. "Is this the Rainbow Bridge?"
  
"It sure is!" I said, "Welcome! My name is Musty Pete." I thrust a
large paw in his direction which he happily shook.

"My Mom told me all about this place. She was right! It's really
beautiful up here." he said as he looked around.  "Mom also said that I
have a lot of my brothers and sisters up here too! Do you know them?"
he asked.

"Yes, I do...well, most of them...there's Harley and Spaz. And Bones,
Buttons, Weasel and Socks, and your sisters Skylar and Oreo. Did I
forget anybody?"

"Um, I don't think so Mr. Pete. When can I see them?" inquired Foley.

"Well, we can walk over there right now if you'd like. You can visit
Ms. Francis Ferret for orientation later on."

"What's or-enti-ation?" he inquired

"It's a fancy way of saying that someone will bring you around and show
you the sites and introduce you to everyone up here at the Rainbow
Bridge." I answered.

"Oh...OK."

"Well, let's go meet your brothers and sisters, shall we?" and I turned
eastward to follow the path to the big cottage where Foley's family
lives. As we walked I pointed out some of the wildflowers by name, and
told Foley all about the Pool Of Remembrance, promising to take him
there one day soon. I told him all about the gatherings and parties we
have up here and talked about some of the activities he might like to
participate in, like Arts & Crafts classes, [dis] organized sports
groups, cooking classes and such. He wasn't clutching that little blue
blanket as tightly anymore, I was hoping he was feeling a bit more
comfortable.

"Ahhh! Here we are, Foley. This is where your brothers and sisters
live. I know they will all be very happy to see you." we walked to
the front door and I knocked loudly [in case they were all napping].

We heard a voice from within..."Who is it??" the voice asked. I
replied, "It's Musty Pete. I have a friend out here, come out and
meet him!"

The first one out the door was Oreo. She looked at Foley, then looked
at him again, "Foley? It IS you! Hey everyone!! Come outside!! It's
Foley!!" she yelled into the cottage. Soon there was a loud clammering
of paws as everyone tried to get through the door at the same time.

"Ow! Stop pushing me!" Harley screeched at Bones.

Skylar grabbed Weasels tail and pulled him back from the doorway, she
rushed past him and grabbed Foley in a big bear hug! "Oh Foley! How are
you? How's Mom? Is everyone at home okay?" she blurted out. Poor Foley
was crushed in a large and furry group hug. Everyone was talking all at
once and he was overwhelmed. He looked at me as if to say "HELP??" So I
asked everyone to give him a little breathing room and ask their
questions one at a time so Foley could answer them. Socks wanted to
know what happened to Foley. And Skylar wanted to hear all about their
Earth Mom, Julie. Bones just wanted to nip Harley in the butt for
stepping on him in the doorway. Foley smiled at all of them, then he
said. "Mom told me I would see all of you when I got here. I was really
scared to come. What if you weren't here? What if there was NO Rainbow
Bridge? It was scary coming across the bridge, I was all alone...but
then I saw this BIG ferret on the other side and he was waving and
smiling at me, and I just knew everything was going to be okay. And I
knew that Mom was right, this IS a beautiful place, and all of you are
here now, and I know that one day we will all be together again with
our Mom." Foley smiled a big warm smile and hugged all of his brothers
and sisters, they all giggled as the fell into a big heap on the
ground, happily hugging one another.

My heart is filled with happiness. Foley is where he belongs and they
are such a happy and loving group. I turned to leave, quietly, and I
heard a small voice say, "Are you leaving now Mr. Pete?" I turned to
look, and it was Foley asking the question.

"Yes son, I am leaving now. You are home, safe and sound. If you have
any questions just ask Skylar or Spaz where to find me. I will let Miss
Francis Ferret know that you are here so she can give you a tour in a
few days. For right now, you should just get settled in with all your
brothers and sisters." I said, "I will see you again very soon Foley.
Bye for now." and I turned and walked away, hearing a chorus of fert
voices bidding me goodbye in unison.
