Hi everyone,

I was sadly overwhelmed last night with the memory of a ferret I rescued
five years ago. I try to remember happy ferret memories, but the sad
ones haunt me always. I wrote this poem as a way of releasing the pain
of that memory.

  A Little Life

A little life from long ago,
lies buried 'neath the winter snow,
a little heart that used to beat,
that no one loved or chose to keep.

in his little cage he wept,
this cast- away that no one kept,
a little cry that no one heard,
his little body barely stirred.

'til in the darkness late one night,
awakened by a gentle light,
his little heart was wrapped with love,
that came from somewhere up above.

and now he romps the days away,
above the clouds where angels play,
cry not for him who was alone,
for God has kept him for His own.
