Hi Becky:
One of my deaf ferrets, Puck, is very vocal (my other 2 deaf ones never
have been). As a kit, he was definitely a screamer! At just over 2 yrs
old, he doesn't do that anymore. The only time he does anything *close*
to screaming is when he's wrestling w/ one of the other boys - & he's
usually the one making the most pitiful sounds when *he's* the one who's
got a death grip on someone else! He sounds like he's being beaten w/in
an inch of his life! When I detach him from the one he's beating on, he
looks at me like, "aw, c'mon, Mom - I was just having fun! Put me down!"
Puck grew out of being a constant screamer, gradually. I'll bet it's
been not quite a yr since he's been that vocal. so, unless anyone else
here has any suggestions, my only input is that he'll probably grow out
of it.
Wish I had some other trick to get him to settle down for ya, but for
Puck, it was just time that solved the problem. Which does *nothing*
for your nerves, I know, but....!
