First find out if the ferret is fully or partially deaf, blind, or both -- either is not unusual in one with panda head markings, especially deafness -- because that will cause you to adjust your actions accordingly, such as giving floor thumping warning when you are approaching, and moving slowly. Take precautions to avoid accidently startling this individual. Also, make sure that the ferret is not dealing with any thing painful that needs veterinary correction. The addy for that can be found in the header of each day's FML and is http://listserv.cuny.edu/archives/ferret-search.html See if Wolfy has her deaf ferret handling pages still up, ditto Anna Grunden's (I hope my memory is working well enough on that.) blind ferret pages, and see scent mapping and exercise info for blind or visually impaired ferrets at http://ferrethealth.org/archive/browse.php?msg=SG6329 http://ferrethealth.org/archive/browse.php?msg=SG15018 -- Sukie (not a vet) Ferret Health List co-moderator http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth FHL Archives fan http://ferrethealth.org/archive/ replacing http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org International Ferret Congress advisor http://www.ferretcongress.org [Posted in FML issue 5148]
