Nancy,
It's QUITE possible that your address came from another source- The Pet Pals
List.
ONE (and only one) of our (GCFA) members also received a chainletter recently.
We're 99.9999% certain that the culprit got the address from either their own
company mailing list OR the GCFA membership directory. Could you send me e-mail
with the
text of the letter verbatim, so I can compare it with the one she got?
It's sad when people of this ilk feel thery must resort to this activity for
fund-raising. Our only hope is that they get professional help before they get
themselves in real trouble, but it may be too late.
----
RE the GCFA show categories. The Geriatric / Handicapped classes were intro-dud
when the GCFA show was sanctioned by IFA and were kept when we swuitched to
FURO judging standards and then wehen we went independent. WE now use the LIFE
judging scale of 100 points per ring for the Kit/Adult and Alter classes. We
don't require that our ferrets have fancy two-or-three part pedigree type names
or pedigrees as long as your arm to enter.
----
Having been connected with the GCFA show since their second, I have notice one
distressing practice among some ferret owners. If their ferret isn't amassing
sufficient points at a certain point during the show, that animal goes on the
selling block. (This is not just at GCFA shows, but at others I've been to). I
realize that some breeders are striving for a purity in breed or consistency in
titles, but I just feel it's very shallow to sell a pet just because they
didn'tmeasure up at one show. Let's face it - one set of judges may award
differently than antother set and one show does not a consensus make.
Just my opinion...
----
If you'd like a copy of the show aplication, drop me a net mail message and Ill
see that one is mailed out.
