**A note from Muldoone's human. As a rule we do not greet humans
arriving at the Rainbow Bridge; that is not who we are nor what we are
about but this week a lovely lady by the name of Rebecca McFarlane
arrived to collect her 'clan' and to gather to herself the many ferrets
she had loved and cared for who had gone on ahead of her to patiently
wait until the day they would all be reunited**

Early morning at the Rainbow Bridge, Nanna arrived at Muldoone's
bungalow. Giving a couple of sharp raps on the door, she did not wait
until she heard him call out 'come in' instead, Nanna hurried inside.

As usual Mully was still in his hammy, sound asleep. Nanna stood
watching her junior Bridge greeter for a moment and felt her heart
swelled with pride remembering the many greetings he had done for
ferrets arriving at the Bridge. She also remembered the numerous
mischievous things he and his buddies had done getting into trouble
but she immediately swept all that aside in favor of concentrating on
the good Muldoone had done for ferrets coming to the Bridge, helping
to calm the fears of the ones who arrived frightened and not sure
about where they were or what had happened to them.

On this day Muldoone, Nanna, and the rest of the Rainbow Bridge
Welcomers would not be greeting any ferrets but this was a very special
day for a group of ferrets waiting at the Bridge; a group of fuzzies
known as the "Crew of Merry Mayhem." The head ferret or hooman-bean by
the name of Rebecca McFarlane had quietly passed away in her sleep. The
members of her clan were deeply saddened by the news knowing how much
she would be missed by those on earth who knew and loved her but at the
same time hearts were leaping with joy; they would be reunited with
their favorite hooman; the one person who was the food-fixer and
litter-box changer in their lives, the person who knew just when a
fuzzy needed a hug and a kiss, the mom who knew when to come and look
because once again someone had stolen Spunky's beloved blue bunny, the
warm loving human who always found more room in the hammy and in her
heart for one more, and the bestest chicken gravy maker.

Nanna approached Muldoone snoozing in his hammy and she lovingly tried
to smooth out his hammy-head-hair but quickly realized how useless her
efforts were, this was one ferret with fur that matched his mischievous
spirit; never to be tamed.

Muldoone shifted in his hammy as he began to stretch and yawn. Opening
one eye he was a bit startled to see Nanna standing there. He quickly
surveyed her expression; no scowl on her face, no smoke trickling out
one ear; hopefully his boss had not found out about the latest flannel
nightiegown raid he and Scoudder had carried out. He had promised Nanna
those days were over but he knew in his heart he would never be able to
resist a late-night raid when opportunity presented itself.

"Uh hi Nanna, what you be doins here? I nots be in twouble 'gain is I?"
Mully asked his boss.

"Good morning Muldoone" Nanna told him. "No you are not in trouble
again unless there is something I should know about" she replied with
a sparkle in her eye.

"Uh, uh, no Nanna, I not tink I needs to tell you anyting" he told his
boss while secretly hoping he and Scoudder had hidden the flannel
nightiegowns so no one would find them and go blabbing to Nanna.

"Muldoone, we have someone very special arriving at the Bridge today"
the senior ferret told her junior Bridge greeter.

"Who be da new fewet dat be coming Nanna?" Mully asked.

"It is not a new ferret coming today Muldoone" she told him.

Muldoone looked to be a bit confused, if it was not a ferret that was
due to arrive then who was it that would bring Nanna out so early? If
it was a dog or a cat coming, they had their own entrance to the
Rainbow Bridge as well as their greeters and everyone knew humans did
not come to live at the Rainbow Bridge, they would be reunited with
their beloved pets when they passed but they did not come to live at
the Bridge...

Looking away as she began to speak but not quickly enough for Muldoone
to miss the glistening of tears in her eyes, Nanna told him it was time
to get up, there was much to do before the arrival time, there was a
sizeable list of ferrets to locate and get everyone to the entrance of
the Rainbow Bridge; it was very important everything be perfect when
the arrival time came.

The long list of ferret names had been broken up and each Bridge helper
was given a shorter list with the names of fuzzies to be located and
brought to the entrance gates for the Rainbow Bridge.

A short time later when all the fuzzies had been located, it was time
for the group to begin making their way to the gates for the arrival.

Muldoone took a moment to look around at his surroundings. It appeared
if everything had been scrubbed shinny-clean. The flowers which grew
freely at the Rainbow Bridge were extra beautiful it seemed and if it
was possible, they all seemed to be even more fragrant. The sky was a
brilliant shade of blue and the air was busy with the flutters of
beautiful white doves diving here and there, busy chatting to one
another.

The group began their solemn journey towards the entrance of the
Rainbow Bridge. Most of the ferrets walked along without speaking; a
few knew where they were going and why but most had not been told, they
had been instructed to gather at the center of the Rainbow Bridge
Village for something special. For the members of the "Merry Mayhem"
they had been told about what had happened concerning their earth mom
and they were excited about seeing her again but as they all made their
way along, they wondered when this would take place.

Hearing the sound long before seeing anything, Muldoone strained his
ears to identify this very unusual music he was hearing for the first
time. The sound was very mournful at times and it was like something he
had never encountered neither during his lifetime on earth or since his
days at the Rainbow Bridge.

"What be dat sound?" Muldoone asked Nanna.

"Hush Muldoone" Nanna told him, "be quiet and observe."

Off in the distance Muldoone could see SodaFerret slowly coming across
the time-worn timbers of the Rainbow Bridge. He was carrying an
odd-looking object and he was blowing into it and as he was blowing
into it, this unusual sound was coming from it.

Suddenly there were excited murmurings from the group of ferrets the
Bridge helpers had brought with them; something about that sound they
were all hearing had excited them all very much.

As SodaFerret made his way across the Bridge, Muldoone got his first
glimpse of the hooman-bean slowly making her way across the same wooden
timbers. The hooman was wearing a flowing, long white gown and on her
face was a gentle sweet smile. Immediately behind him, Muldoone began
to hear the group become more and more excited. "It be her, dat be our
mom pwaying wiff her bagginpipes!" the ferret voices cried out.

The beautiful lady in the long white gown stopped just short of
stepping off the end of the Rainbow Bridge. She looked all around at
the beautiful sights and she closed her eyes briefly drinking in the
intoxicating scents giving off by all the flowers. The lady and Nanna
looked at one another for a brief moment and then Nanna nodded her head
to the beautiful lady, "yes it is time" she told her.

With tears of joy streaming down her cheeks, the lady turned to the
group of ferrets and she held out her arms to them. "My heart has
touched the horizon, my journey has ended and I came for you just as I
promised" she told her ferrets, "lets go home."

Nanna, Muldoone, and the others stepped back out of the way as the
group of ferrets began to dook and dance a wild silly war dance in the
direction of the beautiful lady.

Kneeling down she could scoop the ferrets up in her arms and give them
dozens of kisses, the little group couldn't get to her fast enough;
Genie, Shadow, Elrond, Haldir, Scully, Conan, Sam, Hotspur, Frodo,
Regan, Bubbles, Maria, Hunter, Eowyn, Joy, Spunky, Bilbo, Storm, Nelly,
Jill, and a ferret simply known as "F" all ran to the lady flinging
themselves into her arms. Everyone was giggling, wriggling and trying
to be the first to give their mom a kiss.

After a bit the reunion calmed down enough for the beautiful lady to
straighten back up and Muldoone wasn't sure how she was doing it but
she had every single one of the ferrets in her arms and she was still
saying hello to them and passing out kisses.

Pausing a bit, the lady looked directly at Nanna again and nodding her
head once more, she then turned away and disappeared into the mist,
walking in the direction of the Great Beyond, taking her beloved
fuzzies with her, having kept all her promises made to them so long
ago.

Turning to face Muldoone and the others, Nanna had tears streaming down
both her cheeks and she knew her little group would be full of
questions about what they had seen and what had just taken place.

"Nanna, who bees dat wady and why she comes here?" Mully wanted to
know.

"Muldoone, that was Miss Rebecca and she was a wonderful friend to
ferrets everywhere. Her time is now over and she came to gather her
fuzzies to her, keeping the promises she made to each one of them"
Nanna explained to the group.

Later that night when Mully and the other ferrets were alone with just
their thoughts and memories, they each looked at the picture they
carried in their hearts of their familee members they loved and misses
so much as they each looked forward to the day their hooman-bean would
come for them.
