For the time being, please mail any contributions to:

I've included some useful paths in the trailer to this article.

I will manually forward them back out. I will make some changes to
automate this in the future, but not quite yet. Part of the reason
why this isn't being automated now is the fact that of necessity one
of the recipients has to be anonymous. Sounds wierd ... Unfortunately,
this person has their ferret in a state where ferrets are (still)
illegal and has asked me to [...]44_21Dec198719:14:[log in to unmask] 8712 60 21 26_New Moderator Introduction14_Chris R. [log in to unmask], 21 Dec 1987 19:14:00 -0500495_- We have three ferrets:
1) Nicia - very small (overweight) sable femal, at least 2 years old.
Indirectly from the pound. A real fighter (surviving several
medical crises), and a real sweetheart.
2) Mocha - normal size (1 3/4 lb) sable female, obtained as a baby
about 1 1/2 years ago. A sock eater (with feet inside).
Have tried many thigns, simply can't stop her.
3) Toby - 3 lb. silver-mitt male, obtained as a baby. 9 mos. old.
Big, stupid, and friendly lummox. [...]44_21Dec198719:14:[log in to unmask] 8712 82 29 23_New Member Introduction22_Steve & Sukie [log in to unmask], 21 Dec 1987 19:14:00 -0500394_- We have 2 ferrets at our place - Hjalmar (an exceedingly stupid but
friendly 3 pound, 2 year old male), and Fritter (a very smart 2 pound
3 year old female). A few weeks ago we lost Hale to an illness that she
had been fighting for several months -- she was over 7 (we have no idea
what her real age was as she was purchased as an adult -- she may have
been as old as 9). [...]39_21Dec198719:14:[log in to unmask] 8712 112 28 23_New Member Introduction14_Tom [log in to unmask], 21 Dec 1987 19:14:00 -0500385_- Hello,

I've had my ferret for over a year now and I wouldn't trade him for anything.
He's an albino, and about 3 years old.

As to training him, my brother and I have managed to train him to come to the
sound of a whistle. This was done by rewarding him with his favorite snack
(cheerios) every time we would whistle. Now all you have to do is whistle and [...]39_21Dec198719:14:[log in to unmask] 8712 141 22 23_New member Introduction14_Susan A. [log in to unmask], 21 Dec 1987 19:14:00 -0500640_- Ferrets: Did someone say ferrets! I've thought about getting one
of these for years, until I was told they weren't allowed in CA.

For same! But, I'd still like to know 'bout 'em. Maybe one of
these days I'll move...

Hi all, dis is SaraFerret once again. Wowsie, it seems as tho the rivers
have opens up and sent little furries here.

Dere have been so many dis past month. And dat doesnt count dose whose
humans didnt make requests for. Mercy, is dere a plague or somting like
dat going on down dere!

Well enough of dat, de other day, I gots a note (luckily de little ones
were at Mully's place) and I had to make a fwying dash to de bwidge. It
seems dat a little 9 yr old ferret was twying to cwoss de bridge and was
having a hard time, so I knew what I had to do. Okay Sara, de BOSS says,
go across de bwidge and help Chompie cwoss as he cants see too well.
Well of course dis was one of dose days dat de winds were really blowing.
SIGH! So off I went, holding onto de ropes and twying not to fall off.
Ok, I gots dere, where is he? I searched and searched and finally I
found him under an enormous leaf. Hi Chompie, I is SaraFerret, de
Rainbow Bwidge gweeter. He looks up and says how did you know my name?
Dis note dat your mommy sent me, I says. Oh ok, he says. Now whyever
are you under dis leaf and not at de bwidge. He said I gots lost and it
starts to rain. It wasnt raining, but dere was no doubt he had gotten
lost. First time for everyting. Well, anyway I says, I am gonna help
you cwoss dat big bwidge dere. Just hold on and dont even make a squeak,
just hold tight to me and de ropes. Off we wents, and he was holding
very very tight (uh Chompie, not dat tight--oh ok he says.) and de wind
really picked up right den. He starts cwying and saying we is gonna
fall off. Listen Chompie, dere never has been a ferret or mustey ever
fall from de Rainbow Bridge. Oh ok, whatever you say Missy SaraFerret.
Swayingly we held on and den I saw de end of de Bwidge aka de beginning
of Chompie's new life.

Well I have to say, never were two ferrets more happy to see solid
gwound den Chompie and me. We collapsed for a few to catch our breaths.
Chompie, I says, Welcome to de Rainbow Bwidge, dis is your new home, your
reward for being such a beautiful ferret on earth. He says, but wheres
Mommy--she was cwying when I left. (I hate this part really hate it).
Well Chompie, you will see Mommie and de rest of your humans when dere
time comes to cwoss dere Bwidge.

He caught himself midtears and one last sob, and says, well I guess I
has gots to accepts dat Mommie isnt here. All I remembers is dat Mommie
says I has a tumor in my head and my eye started gushing out dis red
stuff and den I had to got to de ferret dr and den dis nice lady in a
white coat took me and I suddenly went to sleep. Yep, I says, dat is
xxactly how I comes here. You did! he says. He looked all around de
pwace and he says I can see everting now and my head dont hurt no more.
And look at all de ferrets wit wings. WINGS? Yes wings, I says. Do
you wants to go wit me and get yours. Oh ok, he says. So off we went
and picked out a pretty blue pair of wings dat just fit him. And his
halo. He says well where am I going to stay. Well you has lots of
choices. Dere are de party animals, de blackfoots, otters, and other
assorted musteys. And right den, George BBF came up and introduced
himself and invited Chompie to stay wit dem as dey had a somewhat quieter
pwace den most wild ones. See Chompie, new fwiends already. He was
chattering to his new fwiend so much dat he didnt even say goodbye to
me. But I was so happy dat he hit it off easily wit others. I had done
my job and I was soooo tired. Its not easy to be a Bridge-Greeter. But
such an honor! So I stopped by Mully's pwace and picked up my kits and
went home and we all fell off to sleep superquicky.

Hugs and lovies, and kisseys
SaraFerret
