Here is a method that is non toxic and will get the whole colony. Safe
around pets and kids.

Make little piles of corn meal, can put it in a shallow container, near
whereyou see the ants.

The ants will take the goodies home to the nest. The ants will eat the
cornmeal, and because they cannot digest the corn meal, and there done.
