Dear FML Friends,

There is no "Happy Memorial Day." We all have someone we have lost
and today, they are foremost on our minds. We may go camping, or do
something we enjoy, but underneath everything, we think of those who
are no longer with us.

I have written a poem to be included in my upcoming book of verse, "I
Touch the Heart" for those who have lost a ferret. I offer it to you
now, and I hope you take comfort in the words.

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge

Dear Foster Mom,

I hope this finds you well and happy,
I hope your tears are dry.
It breaks my little ferret heart,
To have to watch you cry.

I love you and I miss you Mom,
And I didn't want to go,
I thought that I should write to you
So I could let you know.

At last my heart is wild and free,
No cage to hold me tight,
There are no bars around me now,
I see the stars at night.

I play in the leaves beneath my feet,
I walk in the morning dew.
And though I like my newfound home,
I find I'm missing you.

Please keep my memory in your heart
But, cry no more for me.
For now that I am at the bridge,
At last, at last, I'm free.

Thank you Mom,
And when you follow,
I'll be waiting for you
On a distant tomorrow.

Marilyn Ledoux, for the all the fur kids
waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
