After watching "Fatal Contact" on ABC this Tuesday, I began to wonder
if anyone might have ideas on protecting ferrets, particularly those
in ferret shelters, should a pandemic of Avian Flu ever materialize.

Ferrets are susceptible to human flu, witness their use in testing flu
vaccines. Ferrets may have this susceptibility to Avian Flu. If
vaccines are developed, they will likely be in very short supply and
not be made available to protecting animals. This flu, should it
mutate to a form that can be spread from humans to humans, could prove
particularly deadly; perhaps to ferrets also.

Ideas on protecting our ferrets both pets and those in shelters?
