I thought I would share some enrichment ideas that both my ferrets and
I find fun. Using a big beach towel, I give the ferrets a ride through
the house. One of my older ferrets, Rogue, knows to get up as high on
the towel as possible so that he can just hang on for the ride. However,
the younger ferrets Scarlet, Stitch, Wolfe, and Latte all jump on and off
and even deliberately pull Rogue from his comfortable position. It's
hilarious to watch them cavort and bounce on and off the towel as I drag
it through the house.
Another variation that requires two people, we call blanket swing. Take
a blanket and put the ferret in the middle (don't hold it too far off the
ground), then swing back and forth. Some ferrets will just lie on their
back and enjoy the swinging motions. Others will jump around and that
is why you don't want the blanket to be too far off the ground.
Dooks,
Heather
