I, too, have an old dude who dribbles--I would never, ever put him down
because of it!  I'm sure you weren't really considering that, though.
(Give him to me before you do that!) Several people wrote to me
suggesting medical reasons, and I'm sure that someone better qualified
than I am will post about those, and about the urgency of getting this
poor old guy to the vet to check on something medical.
 
One thing with my guy is that he also has insulinoma.  Never had a
seizure that I know of, but his back legs are a little stiff and he's
gained plenty of weight from the pred.  If I had a litter box, I'm sure
he'd have trouble using it--getting in and out, dragging himself and
his parts over the plastic edge.  As it is, my guys have always gone on
newspaper.  Maybe you could try that--no climbing in and out.
 
 
There are times when his belly and the floor are all wet.  With the
belly being big and his traction getting poor, sometimes he just ends up
dragging himself through the wet.  Diaper wipes for both.  And I try to
remember to throw a burp towel over my shoulder before I pick him up.
Of course, I always forget when I'm on my way to work and running late!
But I try.  He is my ferrety soul mate, one of the really special ones--
the glue that holds the whole clan together.  Human and ferret, we all
adore him.  Kind and snuggly to the sick and elderly, playful with the
babies--he won't be around forever, and I really, really cherish even the
floor cleaning and the stinky shirts.
