Hi group.
I have a question regarding my oldest ferret girl named Kuna. She is
5 yrs. old and in the past months she developed bilateral cataracts.
The lens ein her left eye is completely "cloudy" and on the right she
can still see something (but not much). She doesn't seem to quite
bother about the poorer vision (I know ferrets can't see well anyway).
She doesn't have any problems locating things. And someone who doesn't
know about this, wouldn't say she is almost blind. Well I can notice
some difference - she uses other ferrets as guides, she walks near
walls, sometimes she can't quite locate when teh sound comes from ...
but still big problems.

The thing is, that we are moving to a new appartment in a month or so.
The appartment is in two levels. Have you any suggestions how could I
make the switch of the place easier for her? Will other three ferrets
will be enough as a guides trough the new place? Should I just let her
explore the place? Ok, how obout the stairs? As I said, the place is
divided in two stories. Of course the ferrets will have access to both
levels (they have free roam), and since the upper level doesn't have a
window and since I will sleep there, I belive, that the ferrets will
sleep in the upper level too. I was thinking to make a sort of a ramp
for them, or maybee a tunnel, so the won't fall down the stairs. But
still how to make sure (or at least to minimize the risk) that this will
not happen. The stairs are not high (only around 1,5 m), but still high
enough that a clumsy ferret can fall down and break her teeth. Wich of
course, I wouldn't like to happen.

thnx for any advices...
m.
