Scent mapping is something we have been doing for blind or partly blind ferrets for something along the line of 21 or 22 years (beginning with Haleakala who was taken in as a retired breeder who'd had an eye bitten through by a mounting male). We also have some tricks for exercising ferrets who have poor vision which got Telemna to not be at all leery of being adventurous again. It works marvelously well and you can find past FML and FHL posts on how to do it including http://ferrethealth.org/archive/browse.php?msg=SG13998 http://ferrethealth.org/archive/browse.php?msg=SG8930 http://ferrethealth.org/archive/SG15018 http://ferrethealth.org/archive/browse.php?msg=SG6329 Sukie (not a vet) Current FHL address: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ferrethealth People can join there or can send a blank mail to the automated joining address: [log in to unmask] and then follow the directions. (The second is recommended for those having problems with Yahoogroups web settings, and afterward send a blank mail from your subscribed address to [log in to unmask] to get the digest instead of individual mails. ) Recommended ferret health links: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ferrethealth/ http://ferrethealth.org/archive/ http://www.afip.org/ferrets/index.html http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/ http://www.ferretcongress.org/ http://www.trifl.org/index.shtml [Posted in FML 5515]
