im looking for some advice and hopefully support, see I have had my
beautiful albino ferret for 3 years now she was given to us by someone
who rescued her from a family memember but couldnt give her the proper
care
we were toldat the time she was at least 3 years old which makes her
at least 6 but we really think that she may be older then that she was
brought to us a skinny little thing having live on purina Cat Chow. I
had never owned a ferret before and immediatley learned everything I
could about them found a vet and has increased the family to 4 ferrets.
mid last year she was diagnosed with Insulinoma we changed her diet
including a form of duck soup(she has bad teeth so the duck soup has kept
her weight stable) and regular doses of pred. this made huge differences
she get tired faster then the others but when shes awake she keeps up
with them.
I noticed today shes losing her hair on her back. My family and I are
torn we agreed back when she was diagnosed with insulinoma that we dont
want to put her through a surgery she is just so tiny and had rough life
our goal is to make her comfortable and make sure that she knows she was
loved during her time on earth, but at the same time we dont want to be
considered cruel for not taking every measure possible to extend her life
further? has any one else made this descison? what would be the best
way to go about this? I dont want to rush out and euthnize her, she
doesnt seem to be suffering yet.
