There is a tendency to assume that OTC drugs are safe because they are
not prescription, but there are over the counter human meds that can
create slow chronic damage, and others which can cause acute organ
failure and even death.  If a ferret gets an over the counter medication
check with the treating vet about safety and if the vet doesn't know
then spring for the money to call one of the two veterinary poison
control centers (ASPCA, and Angell Memorial) to have the med checked
into, please.
