Oh boy, I have to think way way back for this. I couldn't have been more
than 13 years old when I saw my first ferret. He was a sable male named
Budweiser. My neighbor was owned by him. I remember seeing her bring
him outside on a leash and harness and thought "WoW, what a cool looking
pet". My ferret obsession began then although my mother wouldn't let me
have one. I began researching ferrets at that point.

When I was around 19-20yrs old, my younger brother had taken in a ferret
from a friend of his that was having construction done at his house. She
was an Albino girl up there in age, probably around 7 at that time. She
was only supossed to be with us temporaily. Well, once I had learned
what this poor sweet little angel of a ferret had been through with an
irrespponsible teenage boy caring for her, I had convinced my mother to
let me keep her. Trust me, if I would tell you the stories that I had
heard which involved a hammock and ceiling fans, and this poor girl
having been in a room with an extremely "high" teenager and his friends,
You would have done the same thing I did.

Well, after letting this little white snoozing bundle of fluff sleep, I
decided to let her out to run around the room. Well OMG, you'd think she
was being shocked of something the way she acted, I had never seen this
before and yelled for my brother. As I sat there and watched this insane
creature throw her body in all directions and make these weird noises and
pounce on anything that moved, I started to laugh. What an odd way to
express happiness.

Bath time with Dee Dee was a real treat to watch. I now call it the 3
stage bath time, even with my 3 ferrets I have now. It is the Wash,
Towel Dry and Fluff Cycles. Dee Dee loved her bath time. She loved to
swim in the tub and chase the soap. but the best part of it was watching
her fluff. Oh My, what a site that was to watch. This was like watching
the Dance of Joy, Weasal war Dance and Dooks, Hee hee's all combined.
She chattered and yelled like you were her worst enemy at that point.
But once that was done, she curled up with you and made it all worth
while.

Sadly, Dee Dee went to the Bridge in 2001. She lived a great life and
passed from Adreanal at the nice old age of 12. Although her last days
were spent with my brother and his girlfriend, due to the fact that we
had a horrific house fire and I could not take her with me at the time,
when she had started to get sick, my brother consulted me and I told him
that in her old age, lets keep her comfortable till her time is done.
She passed within days after that conversation. Dee Dee had taught me so
much about these little firecracker furballs that I am and will always be
owned by them. I pass her legacy on with my husband and our 3 fuzzys
now, Lucifer, Kyba and our Deafy Shea, who looks just like Dee Dee only
fatter. Whenever my 3 Dook, hee hee, war dance or dance of Joy, I sit
back and laugh now and remember Dee Dee and what she has taught me about
these wonderful little creatures that steal my shoes, socks and my heart
each and everyday.
