i personally use totally ferret and i give my two girls chicken gravy as
well, every day, mixed with some pedilyte.  According to my vet, the cg
may not be helping, but it's certainly not hurting.  In my experiences
over the past 15 years with ferrets, you don't have to worry about a
ferret overeating, just leave the food out and let them free feed.
