I had a discussion with the staff at Marguerite's ferret vet clinic about
a year ago, when I first decided to support Tiny Prints Ferret Rescue.
To the poster who started all of this by asking why her vet bill seems to
be so large all the time, when she has already previously posted pleas
asking that we take a look at her Ebay auctions to help her put a dent in
that vet bill, well I can say this: It's because it NEVER truly gets paid
off! She takes in abused and elderly ferrets, a lot of whom are already
ill when they reach her, and she never neglects vet care. This woman
lives on a SHOESTRING, folks! And as she said in an earlier post, she is
an open book if you want to do a little research. IRS tax returns are a
matter of public record and I can assure you - this woman ain't gettin'
rich running her ferret shelter!
Her dog breeding business is completely separate and her way of PAYING
SOME OF HER BILLS!! And yes, her vet's staff DOES periodically tell her
that she needs to make some major payments on that $4500+ bill because
after all, though they do love the ferrets and have been a wonderful
place for Marguerite's ferrets, they ARE a business and have to meet
their own fiscal bottom line! This is not like a bill at a furniture
store, where the bill is static and you are just paying it down. Every
time Marguerite puts a $500 dent in that bill, her ferret care vet bills
run it way back up again!
Anyway, as a few of the more eloquent posters before me have written:
Do your research and support her shelter, or ANY shelter that you feel
satisfies your criteria for deserving support. Or DON'T support any
shelter, but mind your own business otherwise unless you have proof that
the ANIMALS are not under good care. Either way, please do something
more constructive with your time than run this woman into the ground.
Okay, just my 84 cents' worth. (It started out as 2 cents and then my
fingers started flying!). :)
Sydney
P.S. - I don't know Marguerite and have never met her, but was impressed
when she stepped up to the plate after another Pennsylvania shelter had
to close due to financial and emotional exhaustion. I DO know folks who
know her and have been to her shelter, so I decided to support her
efforts through always checking out her auctions and naming her as my
"iGive" recipient.
DO SOMETHING TO HELP THE FERRETS, ANY FERRETS, OR SHUT UP!
Over and out...
