Recently there was a discussion about how to protect your holiday tree
from your ferrets and vice versa. I recall one year when someone posted
about how they hung their tree upside down from the ceiling. Well this
approach is not so novel anymore, and in fact, is the latest fad! See
for example
http://www.usatoday.com/life/lifestyle/2005-11-07-christmas-trees_x.htm

Artificial upside down trees are available all over the Internet, and
even at Target! They can fit in a stand or hang from the ceiling.

Some say that hanging trees from the ceiling is actually an OLD custom.
See for example
http://www.eldrbarry.net/mous/saint/xmastree.htm

Surprisingly, I don't see anyone advertising the upside down tree as a
way to protect it from pets or toddlers, but rather as a way to fit more
presents under it!
