Well, yesterday we went to Lakemont Vet Clinic (Altoona, PA) for Kahlua's
adrenal surgery consultation. Her surgery is scheduled for Tuesday,
September 27. As most of you have heard, I've never been through this
before, so anything and everything advice wise is welcome.

I've received her 'recovery cage' from Martin's cages yesterday. It's a
'Large Ferret Carrier, model # CC-3018' that will have the ramp and shelf
removed while she is recovering.

Mary and Debbi, when you're taking ferrets in for surgery, how long
before hand do you remove their access to food and water? I was told by
the receptionist 'no food or water after she settles down for the night,
the night before the surgery'. Though, I've also heard arguments that
ferrets should not fast because of their fast metabolism. Other than the
adrenal, Kahlua is in good health. What do you guys think of the
fasting?

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wonder are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king."

"May it be you journey on
To light the day;
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun"
