Troy Lynn Eckart is more than just a shelter mom and writer for Ferrets
magazine. She serves as one of three advisors to the International
Ferret Congress (IFC). The IFC is an educational organization you can
learn more about at the website (http://www.ferretcongress.org) and
experience in St. Louis this weekend. The other two advisors have been
a part of the ferret community as far back as anyone can remember and
are familiar names to you, Bill Gruber (BIG) and Sukie Crandall.
Sukie and her husband Steve live with four ferrets, Whizbang, Hilbert,
Morney and Hubble. They have called North Central NJ home for about a
year longer than their first ferret. Sukie is a co-moderator of the
Ferret Health List
(http://www.smartgroups.com/group/group.cfm?GID=1423922)
and a frequent contributor to the FML. She enjoys learning new things
and spends enormous amounts of time on the web. Having spent so much
time researching and participating in ferret discussions, Sukie is an
invaluable resource. She is responsible for the references that are
available through the IFC website, maintaining a record of active links.
When you need to know, Sukie's the place you should go!
Bill -- well, what can ya say about Bill? He moderates the FML through
his work as the LISTSERV administrator at CUNY. In a recent FML Sukie
took us down memory lane as she shared a little history of Bill's
acquisition of the FML. A search through the CUNY website revealed what
people think about Bill. *...Bill Gruber (an) outstanding (person) I
have had the pleasure to work with;* *thanks to his patience and skill,
the fledgling forum...stayed afloat * It's not just the ferret community
that loves him! Bill has served as the moderator for the first two US
Symposiums, in Las Vegas and Atlanta. He will be the Media Manager for
the meeting in St. Louis. Those who know Bill will tell you that he is
a big (no pun intended) Teddy Bear who loves to have fun. He lives in
the city now, but is looking forward to the day he will escape the rat
race and move to the country. You may meet Bill in St. Louis -- ask him
about his ferrets!
