Early morning at the Rainbow Bridge has Muldoone at his appointed spot
awaiting the arrival of a little male fuzzy.
The music in the wind had begun to change and the sad sweet melody of the
Ferret Promise Song could be heard. Muldoone felt the familiar tingling
in his whiskers and he knew another was coming. The music of the wind
danced all around him, singing of welcome and loss, of love and longing.
It sang of the Great Promise that love was eternal, and it sang of the
pain of separation and the sorrow of humans.
The flash of light subsided and then Mully heard the unmistakable sounds
of ferrety feets coming across the planks of the Bridge; the Moonbeam
Molly Express having delivered another ferret whose time on earth had
been cut short.
Mully steps forward to greet the new arrival. "Welcomes to da Wainbow
Bwidge F, I be Mr. Muldoone, officialist Bwidge Gweeter." Muldoone leans
forward offering his nose to the little male ferret.
"So dis be da Wainbow Bwidge I hears so much 'bout" F said softly while
looking all around himself. "I hears dis pwace bees nice but it bees
nicer wif mom and dad" and with the mention of their names, memories
come flooding into his heart and it causes him to pull in tighter onto
himself, "I will misses da mom and dad."
Misser Muldoonie, I habs some odder brudders and sisturs fewets a comes
here 'heads of me and I would wike to sees dem" F told Muldoone.
Smiling brightly Mully tells the new arrival, dat alweady bees takin
cares ob, "follows me" and Muldoone goes trotting down the path with F
having no choice except to follow.
The closer they got to the center of the Rainbow Bridge Village, the
louder things were, it sounded like there were hundreds of ferrets
dooking and hee-hee-hee-heeing and none of them were in tune with one
another. One ferret who F would have swore looked very familiar stuck
his head out the window and let loose with a spray of watermelon seeds.
There was lots of giggling and all the noises one would expect from a
VERY roudy ferret party.
"Misser Muldoone, why we bees here?" F asked him.
"We be here 'acause dis be wheres your fwiends be" Muldoone told him and
giving it a moment to sink in Mully noticed a far-away look in F's eye.
"It bees so wong since I wast sees my fwiends" F told Muldoone.
"Well dooes we habs a surrprizie for you" Mully said to F.
Holding the door open wide for his new buddy F to enter, inside the hut
was a party going on. All his old buddies were there including Eowyn and
Joy. A reunion was held like the Bridge had not seen in a while and the
party went on until the wee hours. Joy and Eowyn had so many questions
about how everyone were back home, especially about mom and dad.
Later that night after F was settled into his new hammy, just before he
fell asleep he whispered his love to his mom and dad and let them know he
had arrived safely, having found Eowyn and Joy and they were were doing
fine as well.
