I too am curious about this.  One of my ferrets always had very waxy (and
strongly scented) ears.  But in the few weeks she also began to get waxy
build up on her body, especially the end of her tail and on her hind end,
above her tail.
 
The vet wasn't concerned, but I'm wondering if it is indicative of
anything.
