There is nothing scarier to see
Than the nose of your furball
Peering from within your Tree . . . .
My advice - get a short tree and place it on a table or stool taller than
they can get on. Our very first ferret, Isabel, could climb ANYTHING.
Even shimmied her way between a storage unit and the fireplace side wall
to get up on the mantle.
The first year we had her and a Christmas Tree, we found her quickly up
and walking out on a limb where I had several collectible glass hummel
ornaments from Germany......To her the bounce was fun - we learned our
lesson FAST - Trees and Ferrets do NOT mix! Not if you value anything on
the tree.
Now if you'd like to put a 2 or 3 foot live tree up for them to play on,
that's fine as I am not aware of any part of a pine that might harm them.
Perhaps others can weigh in on that issue.
