Well, it's done and there are another 28 ferrets in the shelter. MANY
THANKS to Motor City Ferrets for taking a bunch of the females in heat
and using up their emergency fund to help with the costs of their spays.
Most of the females were in sever heat and we really appreciate the
ladies in MI for helping us out with this. BIG kisses from Heaven to
you all!
As for the rest of the kids, mommie is worried about a few. #13 has a
broken front leg and is probably blind. #4 has a huge belly and may have
cancer, mommie can feel her spleen. #21 has a punctured eye and it looks
just awful! it almost looks as bad as mine once did before a kind doc
removed it an eased my pain. And poor # 12 has tumors on his testicles
and penis. #3 is probably adrenal as she is almost balding on her flank
and is not showing any signs of heat.
Of the other kids, 2 have been spoken for by a family who adopted from us
years ago. Another 2 may go to one of our volunteers (Jennifer) but even
if they don't stay with her, she has offered to pay for their neuters.
she's mostly worried about her two foster kids and how they would react
to new kids in the house. One of "her" boys looks like Grandpa Munster.
Remember how he had the white hair that stuck straight out behind his
ears? Well, so does this ferret. he made mommie laugh when she saw him
looking back at her and she shouted "hey, you guys! It's Grandpa
Munster!" mommie also believes he is blind.
The breeder wasn't a bad man (like we usually see) he was just a old man
who didn't know any better. He was so proud to show mommie a bag of
Costco food he had been buying for them and wanted to make sure she
knew what it was called so she could get them the same food. He truly
believed he was providing them with the best money could buy (though
the food only costs about $9 a bag). he was thrilled to know that his
ferrets would finally know what it would be like to run and play and
admitted that none had been out of a cage in years (some had never been
out of their cage).
When mommie, auntie Tina and uncle Andrew arrived back at the shelter,
auntie Sue was there to help. All the ferrets all had their nails
trimmed and ears cleaned. #1 has had everyone in stitches. as soon as
he saw his blanket for the 1st time, he started dooking and giggling! #7
and #8 thought it was totally funny they had a litter box and both giggle
to themselves while they take a dump! #11 is a bully and was picking on
our tumor penis boy (#12). #11 got his butt stuck in an igloo but it
didn't stop him from chasing poor #12. He just toted the igloo on his
behind across the shelter floor looking to chomp!
#22 just chats to himself the whole time he is awake. Doesn't care if
you're looking or not, he's just happy to have a warm blanket to lay on
and a cute hammock to punch with all four feet while laying on his back.
Many thanks to auntie Jennifer for running the new kids and coming to the
rescue, auntie Tina and uncle Andrew for housing some of the girls at
their house, coming to the rescue and driving, to auntie Sue for holding
down the fort while mommie bounded off to bring more ferrets home,
aunties Paige & Olympia for taking care of the pet show (which was also
this weekend) and to all of you for holding mommie's hand while she made
some of the toughest choices a shelter mom ever has to make. mommie's
heart is aching tonight and only you know why.
Now for some terrific news! The gruesome twosome are FINALLY in a
forever home. They have three brothers (Lila has already proven herself
to be the tart she is by falling in love with yet another boy!). Tut
and Memset also went to their new home this weekend. They are sure to
be spoiled, their mommie and daddy drove FOUR hours to pick them up.
Lila and Stitchie's parents also came into the shelter at 9 in the
morning to make sure our resident kids were all pooped out by the time
mommie and the crew got back from the latest rescue. thank you for that!
If anyone is able to help out with litter or food, please e-mail mommie.
funds are also needed to help #'s 13, 4, 21, 3 &12 (AND numerous spays
and neuters)
LOVE to you all, Harley "Bug"
