Dr. Oka - While the vaccine that you discussed with me, Dohybac
Distemper is most likely safe for ferrets, and is similar to what we were
using in ferrets as recently as 5 years ago in this county - we have now
several good vaccines, and one that is apporved for use in ferrets.
Personally, I prefer not to inoculate ferets against unnecessary diseases,
such as parvo. parainfluenza, etc. We already know that ferrets have
trouble with an injected protein load, so I try to burden their immune
systems as little as possible. You might try the Solvay Galaxy-D or some
of the monvalent vaccines for distemper in dogs (without the parvo, lepto,
hepatitis, etc.)
While you probably won't run into a lot of trouble with the Dohybac,
there appears to be better alternatives available...
