I laid my ferret down to rest,
no more his spirit had to test.
The shaking stopped, the pain now gone,
his spirit free to travel on.
This friendly ghost, his coat once white,
has yellowed now in aged light.
His eyes once bright are clouded now,
especially through my teared shroud.
T'was time to do the humane thing,
and end a life that joy did bring.
It's for his sake (as well as mine),
and through God's love, we'll meet in time.
In memory of Casper Grant
