Hi. I've been signed up for this list for a couple of weeks now, but I
haven't really had the time to post anything so I've just been reading.
Just wanted to say hi and let you guys know a little about us. We are
owned by 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 10 ferrets. The ferrets have their own
room and they have a cage, but we've taken the doors off of it so it's
not really used as a cage for the most part. It's mainly used to hang
hammies and give them heights to climb.

2 ferrets recently passed away: Xanth in April 2004 and Pixie in January
2005. Xanth passed away of adrenal disease he had actually had surgery
to remove both glands in May of 03 and it was pretty successful, but of
course they couldn't get it all right at the vena cava. He wasn't on
steroids or anything at all. He started growing his fur back in
December of 03 and passed away in April of 04. Pixie passed away of
lymphosarcoma. She wasn't showing any signs of illness until the week of
Christmas when she stopped eating and drinking, so we took her to the vet
and they ran tests and tried a few things which seemed to help because
she started eating a little bit again. But around the 3rd she wasn't
breathing well, she was dehydrated and she had drastically lost weight
(approx 200 grams, 25% of her body weight) She went to the vet on the 3rd
and they kept her there over night and she passed away during the night.
My only real regret is that she was in a hospital and not at home with
me. In fact, the morning of the 4th I was on a plane on my way back home
from visiting with family. So me not being home and there to comfort her
will always haunt me. But my mom took care of her the best she knew how
and the vets did all they could as well. At least now she's at peace and
well again. The vet didn't know what was wrong until after he did the
necropsy, the tests didn't get back in time. But he said it was
lymphosarcoma.

Before I sign off of here, I was wondering who on here makes the crochet
eggs. I make bedding and things made with fabric, but I don't crochet
and I would like to buy some for my fur gang. I was supposed to get some
last year from someone but some things came up and we lost contact. So
if you let me know who sells them and how I would go about getting some
of them, I would really appreciate that.

In Christ,
Ann Haager and the fur gang
