My ferrets lick up their urine when there is not enough litter to absorb
all.  I thought is was a way of excusing themselves for messing up.
 
I often punish then softly when they urinate on the furniture or the
tiles.  Nobody i know of had that experience until now that i hear it
here.  I take away the urine and try to keep them from licking it.  I
tell them that very sweet and loving, for they have the "oops sorry"
attitude.
