It was a chilly Halloween night in the desert. There was a golden,
almost pumpkin full moon, with dark clouds passing over it's face. Now
and then it would peek out and light up the canyon floor. Every medicine
man will tell you, strange things happen under a moon like that. Tonight
would be no exception.
A lonely coyote howl was carried in on the wind. As if it was a signal,
two small slinky creatures bounced into the moonlight. They were
dragging a large pumpkin with a smiling face.
"Drop it here Taz.", the silver one said.
"Okay,Valentine, the sable one replied. Is Boris coming with the raisin
tub?"
"There he is, over there with Jasmine and Chelsea.", Valentine answered.
"Who's got the raisins?, wondered Taz. Oh hi, Sugar and Tasha. Glad you
remembered the raisins."
Long, slinky animals started showing up in groups. They all had fur that
sparkled like diamonds in the sun. Their eyes were so full of love, that
it spilled out and covered everything with that certain glow. In came
Merret, Jester, Jasper and Joker, and behind them were Rocky and Mammy.
JoJo came dancing into view, with Riki, Pansy, Clover and Lily. Hammy,
Paws and Duke came backing in, dragging the goody tray. Sugar ran over
to help them pull it to the small table, and flirting with all of them,
told them to put it under the table.
"Attention everyone, Jasmine dooked. The party is about to begin. All
the goodies are here now. Thank you Hammy, Paws and Duke. You too
Sugar. Call in the rest of the Rainbow Crew."
Sammi, the newest angel, was given the honor of calling all the crew. He
took out a flute, and played a haunting melody. Suddenly there were
fuzzy angels everywhere. Over there at the pin the nose on the human
game, was Chuckles, Dean, Martin, Coco and Spooky. Waiting their turn,
not so patiently, for raisin bobbing were Bueller, Little One, Fat Boy,
Casper and Rex. Roscoe and Dallas tried to get in the front of the line
for goodies, but were politely chuckled to the end of the line, where
Timon, Jeckyl and Odysseus pointed to the tail end.
Over by the garnet mesa Tavi, Zoey, Chance, Al and Diesel Darlin' had
formed a weasel wander line. They all swayed in time to music that
seemed to spring from the very rock walls. They were joined by Blur,
Rascal, Q Bear, Sonny, Oscar and Muggles. There was so much dooking
going on, that Bandit, Sammy, Joey and Chance almost didn't hear their
names called, as the winning numbers in the fuzzy cake walk. Abby,
Sydney, and Chipper were jumping up and down cheering.
Over in the corner, amongst a pile of large rocks, a clear pool of mirror
water was fed by a waterfall singing over the the side of the mesa.
There was an extraordinarily long line of magically floating, wondrous
creatures of our hearts. In line were Pogo, Angel, Mannie, CoCo, and
behind them were Helga, Elizabeth, Rusty and Froderick. Up came Cooper,
Escher, Venus, Nausey, Newton, Teddie and Berg, all waiting their turn.
Valentine escorted Madelyn, Pete, Hans, Igor and Dusty to the end of the
line. Sugar brought Ab, Inga, Polaris, F Fert, Daisy and Fox. Tasha
ushered Precious, Bliss, Dagwood and Houston all to stand in line by the
mirror pool.
Jasmine stood up on a rock and spoke to them all. "Don't worry everyone,
you'll all have a chance to see your Mom's and Dad's tonight." The
viewing pool was the most popular spot at the Ferret Angel Halloween
Party. They all wanted to see the smiling faces of the ones they love.
The line moved as fuzzy after fuzzy stared into the pool , and came away
smiling and nodding.
A chanting was filling the air. The shining moon was being covered by
the shadowy clouds. Happy ferret angels were beginning to disappear.
Soon all that would be left were happy memories. Be sure to smile on
Halloween, so your beloved ones can see that smiling face.
