Despite attacks by hurricanes
their kindest acts still remain
to build upon themselves again.
 
I was sorry to read that someone on a different list has been attacking
Jackie and the Dook Nook.  As many here know, both were very dear to the
late Christopher Bennett.  Christopher is the person who began the Ferret
Health List.  He knew his own health was declining and wanted to leave
something constructive behind him.  When I got him together with Dr.
Bruce Williams a fine asset to the ferret community was born.  Defaming
Jackie and the Dook Nook always feels to me as if Christopher were also
being hurt.
 
Both Jackie and Chere in Florida have been doing their best despite
hurricane damage and both of them are remaining kind and strong.  Can't
people elsewhere use them as an example of how to behave civilly and
constructively?
 
Both of their shelters need your help right now, folks!
 
We have a wonderful tradition in the Ferret Mailing List of helping
others and of figuring that a favor given by one member can be balanced
by the recipient doing a kindness for yet another FML member when need
arises because over time we all benefit this way.  If anyone here has
done you a kindness, or if you want to start out on your best foot giving
to the shelters hurt by these hurricanes is a great way to help others.
 
You can give to shelters directly, give by offsetting their vet bills
by sending money to their vets, or give through the SOS (which is a tax
deductible charity run entirely by volunteers).  In fact, you can use
the SOS website

to find locations of shelters in need.
