When last we read, Christianaferret was thinking about shuggling down in
her hammie.....

.....but it was not to be. As she ran toward home one of the jills
nursing the Dook saw her and screamed toward the Guard Hobbs, "get her...
she tried to kill the Dook, get her!" Before Christianaferret realized
what was happening she was faced with two large fierce sets of teeth
that also belonged to four sets of long sharp fangs. Stopping short,
by instinct she turned and fled into the jungle, fear driving her paws
faster and faster. She could hear the distance between herself and the
Guard Hobbs getting greater, but they remained in pursuit. As rational
thought returned in her flight, she knew they would never recognize her
for who she was in the rags she was wearing. She also knew that in order
to get away she must lighten her load. She thought of her beautiful
chest and dreaded what she must do next, but it had to be quick. She saw
an old bush with thick vines and long thorns up ahead. Without thought
of her own skin, she forced the chest into the bush and prayed to herself
that it would not be discovered there. As she thought this, the chest
itself began to blend and disguise itself to look like the vines that
choked the poor bush. Gasping at this miracle, she then wondered how she
would ever find it again. Suddenly, one of the cameo twins appeared and
winked at her. Amazed, she stood there a bit too long because out of the
vegetation came the one of the Hobbs. He was covered in cuts and bruises

the weight she was carrying and easily outdistanced the Hobbs. Sometime
in the night her body gave out far before her heart did. She did manage
to find a small stream to quench her thirst, but she would not remember
this in the morning. Her natural instinct and agility had carried
through the night's chase far after reason had left. She woke in the
morning and did not feel her hammock under her. Instead she............

Christianaferret found herself in a small burrow under a large tree with
her wish chest tucked up under her chin.....
It took some minutes for her to remember the night before and all the
excitement she caused trying to get water for the horse under the Dook.
As it all came back to her she wondered where exactly she was and how
many were out looking for her, how much danger is she in she wonders.
As she ponders her dilemma she remembers the wishing chest can answer
her questions for her. If there was ever a time to use what might me a
limited number of wishes this is one of them.
Christianaferret sets her chest down in front of her and thinks carefully
about the day before. Where had she come from where was she to go?
What is it she is running from? THAT'S IT! That is what she will ask
her wishing chest......As she begins her questions she hears noises
unfamiliar to her. She quietly squeezes back into her burrow to wait
for the noises to go away...
