Dear Karen Lee,
I notice you wrote that as "bedding(and rescue too!)"....you put the
"rescue" secondary to your bedding?
[Moderator's note: In fairness, note the original post did not have a
subject. That's the one I added. BIG]
I am wondering something else also...I have witnessed on several message
boards, your many illnesses. In the past few months you have sold birds
that you suggested you had had for quite awhile. You also suggested it
was due to health issues, but also commented on how the money would help
pay for the recent surgeries without waiting until you could save the
money. There was also an incident with a "rescued"(you like to use that
word alot) cat in which you threatened to abort the almost due kitttens
because you stated you "could not afford" to have them all fixed, and
refused to take them to an animal shelter because they would only be
PTS...the difference being?
Seems as though you are already starting out financially on the wrong
foot to be going into such a big endeavor as a ferret rescue.
When advertising your bedding you always refer to the "rescued" ferrets
and how the funds will help pay for their needs...at what point are they
NOT rescues anymore? If they are "rescues" and you are wanting the
public to help fund taking care of them, by calling yourself a rescue,
then does that mean they are up for adoption? If not for adoption, then
they are NO LONGER rescues, they are personals. Afterall, I have 10-12
in my own home that I considered rescues WHEN I got them...maybe I
should continue to call them rescues and use that to sell my wares?
I'm all for free enterprise, but I think you use the term "rescue" too
loosely as a play on words to pull at ferret lovers' heartstrings...
shame on you....You deliberately lead people to believe that you are a
shelter...Unless all of those 9 "rescues" are old, feeble, and sick, and
knocking on deaths door and you are providing a home till the end...
Unless you are making them, and any newcomers, up for ADOPTION...well
excuse me, they are NOT rescues anymore they are personal ferrets that
YOU are responsible for.
Selling bedding to earn EXTRA money for OUR ferrets care, that is great!
But leading people to believe that you are a Rescue, that is not right.
When you start adopting ferrets out, then I'll believe you are a rescue!!
