Hi guys, been a reader for about 3 weeks now and just had a question
about my little furballs who are 3 months old this week.
I recently had a bacterial infection in my stomach / intestines that gave
me a bad fever and diahrea, as well as a vomiting spell for about a day.
My 2 little fuzzies seem to be having the same symptoms I had and was
wondering if its possible that even though I'm well now that they got
the same thing I had. They aren't having full blown diahrea but their
poo is definatly without form.. its more of a blob and it sounds like it
squirts out and they have been dragging their butts on the carpet like
their anus is itchy. They are going to the vet to tomorrow ( wednesday )
for their distemper shots so I'm gonna have the vet check them out while
they are in there. Have any of you experienced the same sort of
problems? Is there something I might be doing that is making them sick
such as using disinfectant like lysol in the areas where they poo on the
floor and maybe they are licking up the residue after it dries?
Aside from the sick problems they have had, my bigger male has been
increasingly aggressive toward the smaller one. They might just be
getting bigger and playing more rough with eachother but now when they
wrestle they always end up making sounds like they are in pain and spaz
out trying to get away from the other. Jay ( the big cinnamon) insists
on sucking on the others ears while they are sleeping as well reguardless
of what the other one has to say about it. He bites him and makes him
cry till he just lays there and lets Jay suck on his ears. Aside from
that they still sleep together and dont seem to have any other aggression
problems inside the cage. Is this also normal? I know the ear sucking
thing is pretty common but I dont know for sure about the aggressive
biting on eachother. Silent Bob (small silver mitt) on the other hand
is very mellow and when he plays he doesn't really bite much... he just
pounces and runs then comes back for more till he gets pinned and then
Jay will follow him around the house till he can pin him and make him cry
for a while before he lets up.
Again this behavior seemed to start about a week ago when they started
getting the sickness symptoms.
Thanks for letting me talk your ears off, hope what I had to say was easy
enough to understand. I'm a newbie to this whole ferret deal, but I love
em to death and want them to be healthy and happy!
Mike~
