Hi all,
You guys probably don't remember me, but I used to be a member of the FML
a few years ago and I am now returning! Anyway, I have a ferret in need.
Her name is Cassie, and she's 3 years old. She is perfectly healthy and
has never had any health problems until now. This week, upon cleaning
out her and Chloe's litterbox, I noticed that some of the stool in the
box was a slimy, liquid-y yellowish green color. I didn't know which
ferret was doing it, so I watched the next day to see who it was. Turns
out it was Cassie.
Now, I have been noticing lately that Cassie is quite thin and bony,
especially when compared to my other ferret, Chloe. But she has always
been on the skinny side, and she appeared to be eating well, so I just
assumed that maybe she just has a quick metabolism. But then yesterday
I noticed that Cassie wouldn't eat, nor would she drink! I had just
refilled their water bottle, and I'd cleaned it out and everything, but
she just nuzzled at it like she WANTED to drink but couldn't. She would
lick vainly at the sides of the bottle where there was some moisture
without actually touching it with her tongue.
But up until now, she has been eating well and drinking adequate water.
I've read up on ECE, and it says that the stool is neon green. Cassie's
is GREENISH, but not neon. However, it does smell quite a bit worse than
regular stool. And it says that ECE usually lasts 2-4 days, but Cassie
has had this problem for at LEAST a week or so. Can someone help me?
What is wrong with Cassie? What should I do about it?
Thanks,
Heidi
