As usual early morning finds Muldoone still in his hammy snoozing away.
Just as he is really getting into his dream of being up to his knees in
ferret treats he hears a familar voice.  "Muldoone, wake up, we have two
new ones arriving this morning.  Geeze Nanna, tan't you do do it dis time
pwease?  Nothing doing mister, you get your tiny hinny out of there right
now" Nanna informs him.  By now Mully knows it is useless to try to argue
with her, for one thing Nanna is one rather L A R G E ferret with a
temper.  "Same dwill Nanna, Mully asks her, yes Muldoone, same drill, go
and get yourself ready.
 
Muldoone reappears a few minutes later and stands inspection for the
older motherly ferret.  "Everything looks okay except for the hair Nanna
informs him.  Nanna, I tolds you, I gots dat hammy-head hair and..... yes
Muldoone, I know that, Nanna interrupts him, you told me that already but
surely there is something we could do to calm it down, I think I will
speak to the Boss about it and see if He has any ideas.  Wook Nanna, when
I puts my hat on, dat cobers it up, see" and Muldoone flashes her one of
his best smiles while giving his baseball cap one final adjustment.
 
Nanna and Muldoone reach the Bridge and once again Nanna instructs him
where to stand.  "Stand up straight Muldoone" she begins to bark orders
at him."Nanna, who are da two fewets tomming dis morning Mully asks.
Well I just got the order a little while ago and not much is known about
them.  It seems a human got them and didn't know much about properly
caring for a ferret.  But why are dey coming here Nanna Muldoone asks.
Well Nanna starts trying to explain, their human didn't understand some
things that were going on with them and when they began to loose their
fur their human thought it was from some other reason and they took the
two ferrets to a place and got them a "forever shot".  Oh Nanna NO
Muldoone cried out, dat is not fair.  Yes Muldoone, I agree it wasn't
fair but sometimes humans do some things that are not only not fair but
not very bright and then they call us dumb animals Nanna said trailing
off.  Oh and another thing Muldoone, the Boss said since you did such a
great job naming Webster, Buddy, and Elsa, he wants you to name these two
as well.  Weally Nanna, I gets to names more fewets Muldoone asks, his
eyes big and round.  Yes she informs him, apparently the Boss was very
pleased with your naming abilities, apparently these two little ones
didn't have names so you get to name them.
 
About that time Muldoone heard the sound of fuzzy feet dancing across the
Bridge and in the distance he can see 2 ferrets scampering along the
planks.  Both ferrets stopped short in front of him and sat down with a
puzzled look on their faces.  "Helwoo and welcome to da Wainbow Bridge
Muldoone tells the two.  I be Muldoone and dis be Nanna he tells the
pair, we have tomes to gweet you.
 
One of the fuzzbutts finds his voice and speaks.  "Where dis pwace be he
asks.  Nanna steps forward and speaks softly and gently to the pair of
ferts.
 
Boys, this is the Rainbow Bridge, maybe you have never heard of it but
this is where you come to after your life on earth has ended.  I am very
sorry to have to tell you this but your human made a terrible mistake,
they were incorrect in some information and they thought you were very
sick and needed to be sent here.  They are now aware of their mistake and
feel terrible about it.  Tan we goes back the first ferret asks.  No, I
am sorry you can't Nanna explains.  You will stay with us here until your
human crosses over and comes for you." The other ferret remained silent
and a tear slid down his cheek.
 
"Hey what kinds of stuff do you guys wike to do Muldoone asks them
excitedly.  Well we wikes stealing socks, we wikes to dig the first
ferret tells Mully.  Did yous habe a name or somptin you calls each odder
afore you tomes here Muldoone asks to two fuzzbutts.  I be Digger the
first ferret answered excitedly and he be Scooter pointing to the still
silent ferret.  Otay Mully laughs with Digger, is dat what your
hooman-bean talls you?  No Digger tells Mully, dey nebber gibes us a
name, I gibes us a name.  Well Digger and Scooter, welcome to Wainbow
Bridge.  I was going to gibes you a name but you aweddy habe a name so
I not be naming you.
 
We habe wots of fun tings to do here and it be my job to shows ya awound.
Wets go and finds you a nice hammy and den we goes to da fruit bar for
somebweakfast, you be hungry he asks the two ferts.  Oh yes Scooter
speaks for the first time, you gots fwuit here he asks.  Yeah and whens
you eats watermelons, sabe your seeds for watter, dey be just da wite
size for shooting at da gurls wif.  MULDOONE I heard that Nanna yells at
him.  Wun guys" Mully yells as the three ferrets go skampering down a
garden path.
 
He had me Nanna is grumbling to no one, he had me right up to the very
end.
