I know that everyone knows that Bill Gruber (BIG) has been the longer FML
moderator, and some know that long before he became the list moderator he
provided protection for the list members in FFZs (a term which hardly has
to be used anymore compared to the old days: Ferret Free Zones which
were/are states, counties, and cities banning ferrets).
How many of you know when the first FML appeared? It was Dec 21, 1987
(over 17 years ago).
Most lists are very short lived, and that is especially true of lists
with a large number of members. Lists with over 1,000 members normally
last only a year. The thing is that in something the size of a small
town all the normal town interactions begin to develop and those cause
problems for some people who don't decide to just scroll past the posts
which irritate. Plus, it is just plain a ton of work for moderators.
So, pats on the backs of members who deal with many people and many
viewpoints, and hugs to Bill for a job well done for a long time.
