It was a Fairet day today...a good day for the Renaissance Faire in
Bristol Wisconsin to meet the queen, her court, and Robin Hood. One
could ride the elephants, or throw tomatoes at this awful, insulting
person, listen to a variety of musical acts, or watch the jousters.

Would the baby camel spit on anyone? Could Robin Hood be saved? Did
I really need to buy the Tempest Stone that actually looked like it
contained a miniature moving waterfall? (Yes, apparently I did.) Could
that ice cream waffle look any tastier?

In the jousting arena, Our section of the outdoor stadium loudly cheered
on the knight who rode the prettiest steed, and spoke total gibberish and
balderdash with a dashing smile, and that arrogant noble air. You could
not help but laugh at our dashing-nonsensical hero. He was no worse
communicating than many a couple I have observed, I thought to myself.

Then I glanced over next to me. There was Donna...whose ferret Eppy was
lost those many weeks before she found him. And there was her husband
Dan. Friends, companions. Look at how he is doing this, saying that,
going here, looking at her thus. And he loves ferrets??? Listen to
the stories. Look at how he touches her. wow. Down to earth, loving
husband and wife.

I saw a few things that, personally, I rarely see. Exotic belly dancers
indulating, large Viking men girthed in leather and feathers, a swan
eating musk melon in the pond. Long haired men gowned in leather knee
high boots and black capes, sporting long sharp real looking upper
canines. A mid-evil Vampire look? Strange musical iinstruments..one
that needed to be wound that sounded like bag pipes. Two people
obviously happily married that both love ferrets.

We heard there were ferrets at the Faire last weekend, and made it part
of our trek to see if we could find them. Mind you, we had just left our
respective herds at home. When we weren't searching for the ferrets, we
were searching for wooden, glass, clay, or metal ferrets at all of the
booths.

How often can you be with someone who truly shares your thrill at finding
a pewter ferret that is well made? How often do you find a well crafted
pewter ferret? How often do you walk around outside on a picture perfect
day with a wispy breeze and tantalizing smells surrounded by ladies and
knights, talking ferrets for hours with someone who understands your love
for them?

Is Donna, of [log in to unmask] as big hearted, gentle, and sweet as she
appears to be in writing? She surely is. And she has never forgotten
all the people on the FML that were there for her when Eppy went missing.

And although we never found those ferrets that were rumored to be at one
of the booths ...I was still in ferret heaven...strolling with this lady
and her dear husband at the Faire.
