Shame on Everyone who has stated a NEGATIVE comment against the Ferret
Store.  Here on the East Coast, which is where the Ferret Store is
located, they have spend probably 10's of $1000.00 of dollars on show
sponsorships which alot of these shows are run by shelters and ferret
organizations.  They have donated millions of dollars in products to
local shelters and have offered basically wholesale costs to these
shelters.  The shelters in my area rely on the Ferret Store!  I hope
Scott posts a number on what they have spent on sponsorships since they
opened.  Are all the local shelters going to keep quiet on this one and
hope for the best.  Well, I am not!
 
One email and everyone is ready to slam them?  SHAME ON YOU ALL.  I
assume you are all going to step up to the plate and give all these
shelters the food and supplies that the local shelters get, or the show
sponsorships which run in probably close to $10,000 a year??  I thought
not........I doubt if anyone will do what the ferret store has done.  I
am sure if you would look at the books on the number of items bad items
sold, probably is a drop in the bucket compared to all the GOOD stuff the
Ferret Store Does for shelters.  You guys claim to care about ferrets,
yet you are ready to hit one of our sources for discounted items???  If
they don't make money, we don't benefit from the discounted products.
 
I ASSUME, that everyone is going to target the Food stores right??  They
sell Raisins, which is probably the #1 BAD treat feed to ferrets.  Don't
forget to hit Walmart, Acme, Pathmark, K-Mart, Redners, Giant and every
other food store that sells raisins in your little rampages.  If I had a
$1.00 for every time some told me they fed their ferrets about 10 raisins
a day, I could fund my shelter.  Raisins are FAR more a problem then
Yoggies or Marshmallow treats.  Come on People.
 
The Ferret Store's stand on Education should be COMMENDED.  HELLO, they
are a business, business make money.  LIKE IT OR NOT!  It is up to the
people who are involved in ferrets to do the education.  These stores are
the middle men in business.  You should be talking to 8 in 1, FM Browns
Etc, Kaytee etc.  Those are the manufactures of the bad products.  IF
they don't manufacture the products, we would not have to worry about it.
If they would revise the ingredients, we would not have to worry.  They
need to revise their packaging.  Yoggies say feed 12 yoggies/day.  Why
not get them to state on the package feed 1-2/week.  That would a simple
solution.  Sure they would not sell alot of them, but they are ok in
moderation.  Why should someone who feeds these treats in moderation, not
have access to them.  I see much more abuse of the Raisins, Ferretvite
and Nutri Cal also.  But we need Ferretvite and Nutri cal products.  What
about all the human products out there that are bad for ferrets besides
raisins??  How are you going to stop that??
 
When companies buy from these manufacturers, they must take large
quantities of items and the full lines.  But of course, none of you have
researched business and purchasing..... I assume.
 
Education is the BEST.  But it takes time, instead of sitting on the
computer and complaining about the Ferret Store, Petco or Petsmart, go
to these stores........help them revise their web pages, send them
suggestions for good treats, verse bad treats.  Get off your butts, stand
at the ferret cages for an hour, when a customer comes up, educate them
on ferret ownership.  Set up a booth on a Saturday and Sunday, hand out
flyers.  When you go into the store, give the employees a tip each time.
They don't have to know you are giving it, just drop a tip here and
there.  IT WILL SINK IN!  You don't have to be nasty, protest these
places, and send rude emails to everyone you know including the stores.
That is DEAD wrong.  Especially to a company who has helped the Ferret
Communities so much!
 
There comes a time when someone has to be responsible for themselves.
They have to do research before owning an animal.  That should be common
sense.  I would love to have a horse, however, I did the research and
found that a horse is not for me.  HELLO.........give the people some
credit out there, give them the tools they need, and they will read it.
Email Petco and Petsmart and see if they will accept outside information
to hand out.  I think it would be a better solution for them then cutting
into their profit margin.

And 32+ Ferrets Who LOVE the ferret store for all the help they have
given their shelter mom and all the ferrets who have been adopted who
have benefited for their HUGE generosity.  Not to Mention all my personal
ferrets who have gone to AFA and other shows Sponsored by the Ferret
Store!
