saw Switch and Lily's story and was reminded of something I meant to
post.. happened near the beginning of this summer.

I'd built a sandbox (about 2x2.5x3 ft) for my ferrets a few years ago,
with plexiglass sides for watching the fun. initially, I had rice, but
after a couple of accidents with cats and attempts to wash 80 pounds of
rice... I decide to go with something not edible (always felt a bit
guilty about using rice..). I had organic soil for a while, but it was
a bit too fine and dusty, even after I mixed in playsand, so I dumped it
out into a garden and decide to just try play sand.

we went shopping at home depot and was looking at different bags of play
sand when a store employee paused and said, they have coloured sand in
the seasonal department. so we went there and sure enough, there was
red, green, and blue. blue's my favourite colour, and I keep a streak
of my hair dyed blue, so I picked up a couple of bags.

once home, the kids enjoyed the digging box tremendously. I could
tell 'cause after playing in the Sand, they turn blue! it's the cutest
thing, ferrets with blue paws and blue noses. especialy Sprite my blue
albino :). and then they match my hair when we go out :).

there wasn't nearly enough sand, of course, so after a couple of weeks,
we went back for more.. I couldn't see any on display, so I flagged
down an employee, who looked at me and said, "they'd been recalled."
recalled!! my first thought was shit, the kids are probably still
playing in it. I asked nervously if it was toxic... and was reassured
immediately.. "oh no, it wasn't toxic or anything.. just the manufacturer
had some parents complain their kid turn blue after playing in it. we
had barely sold any anyways... just a couple of bags...". I informed
them I was their only customer, I quite enjoy seeing my kids turn blue,
and ask if I would be able to get more (answer is no..).

so how come parents don't want their human kids to turn blue :).
I find it nice to know the kids are using the toys I made them!

Selina, Sprite, Dart and Clef.

p.s. if anybody comes across this stuff anywhere, I'd really like to
get my hands on a couple of bags... I haven't gotten additional sand
for their box.. still hoping that there might be someone selling blue
sand some where...
