Hey.. Okay.. so I'm having a ferret crisis here.. a minor one, but still.
Today I took my ferrets into work (pet store type place) for the first
time in months, and well, apparently the one kitten that didn't get
treated for fleas gave the fleas to the store ferret (which i will make
sure gets retreated for fleas on friday, he was treated already but could
use a washing and a complete cage scrub down etc.).. and the store
ferret gave them to my ferrets. Soooo I need help! I have a few
questions.
1. does putting things through the wash kill fleas?
I've stripped my bed of sheets and pillows teddy bears etc, and my box
of hats (that one ferret got into today) and I'll need to wash all the
ferret bedding also, but if i just throw it in the washer, will that
kill all the fleas?
2. What should I use to wash my ferrets?
We have a product at work, called "De Flea" and this product is safe, non
toxic, and is safe for ALL AGES of puppies and kittens INCLUDING nursing
mothers and babies that other flea shampoos are not safe for. It
contains NO pyrethrins or similar chemicals. It is EPA registered and
recieved the lowest toxicity ratings in all EPA categories. I have used
it on many many kittens at work, and it works like a charm with no ill
side effects. It's safe for humans etc. If you can use kitten flea
shampoo on ferrets would this be safe? I'll probably wash my own hair
with it to be safe, but i would love to use it on my ferrets because i
know it is very effective!
3. What else should I do besides washing everything including the
ferrets and treating my dogs and cats for fleas?
I need responses ASAP as my mom can only take me to the store at 11am EST
tomorrow at the latest and I'd like to know what shampoo I should get!
And what else I should do and if washing things kills fleas.
Thanks in advance!
- Jules (feels as if i've got bugs crawling all over me! AH!)
