Your ferrets (and other pets) are safe.  Head lice are specific to
humans.
 
I used the traditional treatment (Rid) in combination with a shampoo
called LiceRGone.  The shampoo is a natural peppermint based product
that you can use daily if needed.  Just do a Google search to find
sources for it.
 
I don't think Advantage or any of the other flea/tick treatments work on
head lice.  If it did, _I_ would have used it!!
